Jose Mourinho will enter New Year with Full Confidence

Things might not have gone as well for Jose Mourinho as he wanted them to be yesterday, but, the Portuguese would still step into the New Year totally satisfied with his work this summer.

The Blues are still at the top of the pile in the Premier League despite failing to beat Southampton.

It was a 1-1 draw at the St Mary’s Stadium which left Mourinho in an angry mood and he had a few things to say in the press conference after that.

Mourinho’s anger was totally understandable as that draw could have got Chelsea down to no. 2 in the league table for the first time this season.

Chelsea topping list in English Season

Chelsea has been, by far, the best team in English first division this summer.

They are right on top and they deserve to be there. But, in the last couple of weeks, they haven’t seemed to be that clinical. Whether you talk about the game versus Manchester United or the game versus Rangers, they have been slightly under par.

Diego Costa’s injury is obviously one of the reasons behind that. He is a real force in that Chelsea squad and has been in instrumental form. So, his unavailability, all of a sudden, has disturbed their combination, but, it was always going to happen.

The amount of football Chelsea has been playing in the ongoing season, there would always be the danger of players missing a couple of games with niggles. So, it’s important for Jose Mourinho to manage the workload and keep the players fresh.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that striker Diego Costa has completely recovered from his injury problems and will be having no trouble over the coming Christmas period.

Mourinho has been involved in a war of words with the Spanish national team for reportedly worsening the condition of his star striker.

Costa has made a fantastic start to his Chelsea career after already scoring 10 league goals. This has propelled the Chelsea to the top of the table with a comfortable advantage over the chasing pack like Manchester City.

Mourinho claims that victory shows improvement over Arsenal

Jose Mourinho has said that the 2-0 win over Arsenal shows that Chelsea have improved a lot compared to last season. The club was criticised heavily for the defensive performances especially in big matches, but this time around, they have been able to dominate the league by scoring lots of goals. The team has also been better had defending over the last few weeks. Further, Mourinho is extremely happy with the quality of the squad, which has been boosted by the arrivals of names like Thibaut Courtois and Diego Costa.

Schalke Spring Surprise Opening Match

Schalke managed to spring a surprise opening group match of the Champions League this season after a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The German club came into the match on the back of the very poor form that has seen manager Jens Keller’s job come under threat in the last few days. After a 4-1 defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach during the weekend, it was widely speculated that Jens Keller may not last until the weekend if Schalke suffered another heavy defeat against Chelsea. However, they managed to get a point at Stamford Bridge against all the odds.

Costa Takes Chelsea By Surprise

The Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said that Diego Costa has taken his new teammates by surprise with his exceptional skills.

Costa made his way into the Blues camp last month from Atletico Madrid. He cost Chelsea 32 million Pounds.

The Spaniard had smashed 27 goals in the La Liga last season playing for Atletico. He was the X-factor for the Los Indios. It was his debut season at Vicente Calderon Stadium and he made a huge impression there straightaway.

Costa has made a good start at Chelsea as well. Featuring in the pre season game against Olimpija Ljubljana a few days ago, he had found the back of the net and had made Chelsea win by a narrow margin of 2-1.

According to Mourinho, Costa is one of those guys who think about the team all the time. He doesn’t always look to score himself. He is pretty good at setting goals as well and that’s what makes him a manager’s delight. His commitment level is pretty high too.
