Guus Hiddink believes that the English FA should not push Diego Costa

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink believes that the English FA has been unfairly punishing striker Diego Costa.

The Spaniard has already received a number of suspensions since his move to Chelsea in 2014. However, he continues to be one of the best forwards that the club has seen since the days of Didier Drogba. Costa has been involved in a number of clashes with opposition players. This has often seen both parties at the receiving end of yellow and red cards. This was the case in the FA Cup quarter-final against Everton when Costa clashed with defensive midfielder Gareth Barry throughout the game.

Guus Hiddink Urges Players to Push until the end of Season

Guus Hiddink maybe only the interim manager at Chelsea, but he has urged his players to keep on pushing until the end of the season.

The blues have little to play for in the rest of the campaign other than pride. After being knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup in successive matches, they can only hope to finish higher than 10th in the league table. This has been an extremely disappointing season, but one small hope is that they can go unbeaten in the league under Hiddink. Since the Dutchman came in December, results in the league have improved although there have been a number of draws along the way.

Hiddink insists he is not distracted

Antonio Conte’s arrival to Chelsea has already been confirmed as the Italian coach will be taking charge of the Premier League club in the summer when the 2016 Euro’s reaches it’s end on July 10.

HIDDINK WORRIES OVER ZOUMA

He has recently received glowing praise for the impeccable performances and this injury could not have come at a much worse time for Chelsea and the player. There are fears that he may have ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, which will keep him out for a minimum of 6 to 7 months. This will rule him not to just until the end of the season but also from the Euro 2016.

Zouma injury gives Hiddink a defensive headache

Kurt Zouma is expected to be out of action for up to six months following the injury he picked up against Manchester United recently at Stamford Bridge. The Frenchman landed awkwardly when challenging for the ball in the air and it has since been confirmed that the defender will need surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament.

Zouma had firmly established himself as one of the regular starters in the Chelsea line-up this season in which he has made 32 appearances for the club. With the January transfer window now closed, manager Guus Hiddink will have to rely on what he has available in the squad as he is unable to sign cover until the summer.
