Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink believes that the English FA has been unfairly punishing striker Diego Costa.

The Spaniard has already received a number of suspensions since his move to Chelsea in 2014. However, he continues to be one of the best forwards that the club has seen since the days of Didier Drogba. Costa has been involved in a number of clashes with opposition players. This has often seen both parties at the receiving end of yellow and red cards. This was the case in the FA Cup quarter-final against Everton when Costa clashed with defensive midfielder Gareth Barry throughout the game.

Guus Hiddink maybe only the interim manager at Chelsea, but he has urged his players to keep on pushing until the end of the season.

The blues have little to play for in the rest of the campaign other than pride. After being knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup in successive matches, they can only hope to finish higher than 10th in the league table. This has been an extremely disappointing season, but one small hope is that they can go unbeaten in the league under Hiddink. Since the Dutchman came in December, results in the league have improved although there have been a number of draws along the way.

There are fears that he may have ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, which will keep him out for a minimum of 6 to 7 months. This will rule him not to just until the end of the season but also from the Euro 2016.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis is that it would be wrong to credit Guus Hiddink as to sole reason for Chelsea’s revival inform over the last few weeks.
