CHELSEA SUFFER INJURY BLOW IN MIDFIELD

West London giants Chelsea have suffered an injury blow in the midfield area of their team following the news that midfielder Jorginho has picked up a knock ahead of the visit of struggling West Brom after the international break.

Jorginhowas called up by Roberto Martinez for the Italian national team ahead of the start of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers but the player is now expected to sit out the games as a result of the injury as confirmed by the aforementioned Martinez. Ex-Manchester City and Inter Milan boss Martinez has been able to transform the Italian national team since he became the manager shortly after the country missed out on a place at the 2018 edition of the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Martinez gave an update on the injuries amongst the Italian national team players earlier this week. According to him, Jorginhois not available for the three games during the present international break. Mancini also revealed that AS Roma player Bryan Crisante will also miss the games.

The Italian national team manager is keen to start with a win when his team play Northern Ireland at home on Thursday night. After the Northern Ireland game, Mancini and his Italian national team players will travel to face Bulgaria and Lithuania. The Italians are expected to pick up nine points from those three games by their fans as they try to make up for their absence in Russia three years ago.

Jorginho would have been hoping to take his Chelsea form to the Italian national team but that would no longer be possible with injury. He has been an important player for Chelsea under new manager Thomas Tuchel. The German tactician has not suffered any defeat since he was appointed the new manager in place of the sacked Frank Lampard in January.
