Schalke Spring Surprise Opening Match

Schalke managed to spring a surprise opening group match of the Champions League this season after a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The German club came into the match on the back of the very poor form that has seen manager Jens Keller’s job come under threat in the last few days. After a 4-1 defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach during the weekend, it was widely speculated that Jens Keller may not last until the weekend if Schalke suffered another heavy defeat against Chelsea. However, they managed to get a point at Stamford Bridge against all the odds.

Costa Takes Chelsea By Surprise

The Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said that Diego Costa has taken his new teammates by surprise with his exceptional skills.

Costa made his way into the Blues camp last month from Atletico Madrid. He cost Chelsea 32 million Pounds.

The Spaniard had smashed 27 goals in the La Liga last season playing for Atletico. He was the X-factor for the Los Indios. It was his debut season at Vicente Calderon Stadium and he made a huge impression there straightaway.

Costa has made a good start at Chelsea as well. Featuring in the pre season game against Olimpija Ljubljana a few days ago, he had found the back of the net and had made Chelsea win by a narrow margin of 2-1.

According to Mourinho, Costa is one of those guys who think about the team all the time. He doesn’t always look to score himself. He is pretty good at setting goals as well and that’s what makes him a manager’s delight. His commitment level is pretty high too.

Chelsea Places Bid For Emenike

As per some of the reports in the Turkish media, Chelsea has placed a bid of about 15 million Pounds for Emmanuel Emenike, the 27-year old Nigerian forward, who is currently a contracted player of Fenerbahce.

The Blues are keen to get in a few quality forwards this summer. They are already after the Spaniard Diego Costa and now, they have set their eyes on Emenike as well.

Chelsea should be able to secure the Emenike deal with the amount of money that they have reportedly offered to Fenerbahce.

Emenike himself is also quite interested in playing in English top tier. Recently, he said in one of his interviews in Brazil that if he is approached by a good English club, he would not reject the offer.

When asked about the rumours of him on the radar of Chelsea, the Nigerian international said, “Right since my childhood, I’ve wanted to play in the English league. So, if I am given any such chance, I would definitely grab it.”

Hazard Reveals New Contract Negotiations

It has been rumoured that the club would be coming in with a £ 75 million offer in the next few weeks. This comes just weeks after they managed to sign David Luiz for £ 50 million.
