CHELSEA YOUNGSTER NAMED ONE OF EUROPE'S BEST PROSPECTS

Chelsea youngster Armando Broja has been included on a list ranking the top prospects playing in Europe’s domestic leagues right now. CIES Football Observatory has posted a top 100 list of the best performing young stars aged under 21.

Chelsea owned striker Broja, who’s impressing out on loan with Southampton, placed 13th. Elsewhere, Arsenal and England star Bukayo Saka is top of the pile in first. There was room for two further current Chelsea loanees in the top 100, too. Billy Gilmour, on loan at Norwich City, and Levi Colwill, on loan at Huddersfield Town, finished 49th and 88th, respectively.

For certain, Chelsea should look to invest their time into Broja rather than search elsewhere for a new striker. The 20-year-old’s made one first-team appearance for the Blues, but he’s showing during his current loan with Southampton he’s ready for so much more.
Paul Merson has previously said he strongly believes the Albanian centre-forward has a future with Chelsea. There are a lot of Blues supporters that agree based from what they’ve seen from him this campaign as well.
Broja has nine goals in 32 Southampton matches so far this season. Also, he’s been such a handful for opposition centre-backs with sheer pace, power and aggression. It’s no surprise to see him rank highly on CIES’s list because he’s so often one of the standout players to watch in the Southampton XI.
Kai Havertz is currently occupying Chelsea’s centre-forward position, with teammate Romelu Lukaku playing second best. However, don’t rule out Broja making a big impression in pre-season and forcing his way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans. Should Lukaku leave Chelsea in the summer, Broja could therefore be promoted to the first team by manager Thomas Tuchel. By then, the youngster would deserve the promotion.
