CHELSEA DUO PUSHING FOR UCL START

The Chelsea duo of Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic are pushing for a start ahead of the Champions League trip to face Spanish La Liga club Sevillaon Wednesday night. Both players came on as a second half substitute during the top-of-the-table league meeting with Tottenham Hotspur in the London Derby at the weekend.

Havertz and Pulisic entered into the fray in the second half of the game played at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening as Chelsea and Spurs played out a goalless draw to keep their respective places on the Premier League standings. The point earned kept Chelsea in third place with 19 points, whileSpurs maintain their position as the top team in the league with 21 points.

Christian Pulisic had missed the last five Chelsea games in all competitions before returning to action against Spurs at the weekend. The American international has had an injury hit time at Stamford Bridge since signing for the club last year. He's pushing for a start against Sevilla as the Blues try to secure top spot in Group E. Chelsea might need to beat Sevilla away from home to achieve their target of finishing the group as winners.
Kai Havertz is potentially the most expensive player in the history of Chelsea as his transfer could hit the £90m mark based on add-ons. The German international had missed the last two games in the league before returning to action against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend. Havertz missed the wins over Sheffield United and Newcastle United after testing positive for Coronavirus. He returned to the Chelsea squad for the Champions League clash at the home of French Ligue 1 club Rennes last week. The former Bayer Leverkusen player is pushing for a recall to the Chelsea XI ahead of the next game at Sevilla.
