MATA BACKS VILLAS-BOAS

Chelsea's new summer signing Juan Mata has said that he and his teammates are right behind new manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Andre Villas-Boas has come under intense criticism in the last few weeks for not being able to get the best out of the players, who have performed exceptionally well over the last few years. Chelsea like currently in the fifth position in the table and are being fast caught up by the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.

However, the 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers provided Andre Villas-Boas with the breathing space he needs as he prepares his side to take on the likes of Newcastle and Manchester City in the next few weeks.

Juan Mata was one of the main reasons for Chelsea coming out of the blocks exceptionally quickly in the match against Wolves. It was extremely surprising for Mick McCarthy's men, as they were expected to at least put Chelsea under pressure.

Juan Mata was really the star of the show on the night. Not only did he set up two goals – one for John Terry and one for Daniel Sturridge, but he also scored the third and final goal for Chelsea in what turned out to be a sparkling display for his new club.

Speaking after the match, Juan Mata said "we had a team meeting in the week and all decided that we are all in this together. We made sure that we are heading in the same direction and we showed that against Wolves. This group has always been united, and now we are sure that the secret in enjoying more success as we go forward is to stay strong and stay together."

Chelsea will also need to concentrate on the Champions League group stages, as they are yet to qualify from it.
