CECH WANTS BOTH TO STAY
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that the club are extremely happy that both Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba are coming into form at just the right stage in the season.
Didier Drogba showed that he is still one of the greatest strikers in the world by scoring the winning goal against Barcelona a few weeks ago. Fernando Torres, meanwhile, showed that he has not forgotten how to finish after scoring a wonderful hat-trick in the 6-1 victory over QPR during the weekend. This now means that Torres has now scored seven goals in his last 11 appearances for Chelsea.
The form of both the strikers is extremely encouraging for goalkeeper Petr Cech, who is also looking like his old self in the last few weeks. Cech made a number of crucial saves against Barcelona to keep Chelsea in the match.
Torres scored in the final few minutes of the match to put Chelsea in the Champions League final where they will face Bayern Munich. Ahead of the match in the Newcastle United on Wednesday night, Cech has said that the club should be looking at ways of playing both Torres and Drogba in the same team. Cech believes that each striker has something that will fear the opponents.
“We know Fernando is strong at running behind the line and getting in between defenders, and with Drogba you can do everything – he’s a target man, he can hold the ball up. They are different strikers. But with both, you know you will get goals. Who would I pick? I’d pick both," Cech said ahead of the Newcastle match.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are looking at the possibility of getting Brazilian defender David Luiz back for the match against Liverpool, although Roberto di Matteo admitted that the Newcastle match comes a little too soon for the Brazilian.
